Flight Centre has opened a new flagship store on High Street Kensington in London, designed to offer a one-stop travel shop for its customers. The store is the biggest of the 100-plus Flight Centre stores in the UK, with 20 consultants. This new flagship brings together all the retailer’s offerings, allowing customers to arrange everything from airfares and accommodation to car hire, insurance and tours.
The new store is on the cutting edge of Flight Centre’s business globally with its two in-house expert retail teams as well as dedicated Round the World, First and Business, and Flight Centre Business Travel teams. Flight Centre’s new flagship store is the first of its kind globally for the retailer - it is hoped the store’s format will appeal to its customers and then be replicated in other locations in future.
Flight Centre’s flagship store is situated next to a Trailfinder’s outlet, which Flight Centre sees as a main travel retail competitor. By positioning its new store next to a direct rival, Flight Centre hopes customers will see them as the brand which offers the best value for money on the high street. Flight Centre is proud of its Low Price Promise, which means if a customer finds a cheaper airfare available in the same booking class, Flight Centre will beat it.
On its first day of trading on 2 August, Flight Centre welcomed over 1,000 people into the store - five times the amount of people on a normal working day.
“The opening of our new UK flagship store was an important event for Flight Centre globally and the success of the opening day shows that customers are interested in dedicated, expert service that saves them money,” said Peter Mountford, Marketing Manager, Flight Centre. “The new store shows our commitment to offering a one-stop-shop to our customers, with no need to go anywhere else to create a perfect holiday.”
