Park Inn brand continues UK expansion

4th Aug 2008

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans for the opening of the Park Inn Preston with the group now featuring 50 hotels in operation and under development in the UK, representing almost 9,000 rooms.“This is a solid portfolio which will be developed further”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “The UK is an important home market for us; offering good growth opportunities especially for the young, dynamic and colourful Park Inn brand”.

Rezidor takes over the management of the hotel in Preston as of November 1, 2008. After an extensive renovation, the property will be officially re-branded to Park Inn in February 2009. It currently has 98 rooms, with 20 more scheduled to be added by June 2009.

A further 15 new-build Park Inn properties are currently under development and due to open in the next two years in locations including Canterbury, Aberdeen and two properties in both Edinburgh and Manchester. As well as new properties opening, to further grow and develop the brand in the UK, the existing Park Inn hotel portfolio will benefit from a huge £45 million investment.

Working with its partners and hotel owners, much of the investment is focused on a significant refurbishment programme to bring the product of the existing Park Inn portfolio to the same high level as the new-build Park Inn hotels which are being rolled out in the UK.

Designed to be functional, easy to use and fresh and contemporary in its styling, the new-look Park Inn guest rooms offer full air conditioning with individual temperature control, stylish new fixtures and fittings including Italian designer bedside and desk lamps, a comfortable desk / working area, in-room laptop-size safes and flat-screen LCD TVs showing over 30 channels plus a huge choice of movies. The majority of bathrooms now offer walk-in shower rooms with “rainfall” showers. All new-build Park Inn hotels will also feature this style, all of which complement The Rezidor Hotel Group Responsible Business ethos and have guest comfort and security top of the agenda.

“We are already receiving great feedback from guests experiencing our new-look bedrooms and with so many properties under development in the UK we fully expect Park Inn to become a strong offering amongst local competition across the UK. We are looking forward to welcoming new customers to our hotels over the coming months”, comments Jacques Dubois, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Park Inn.
