Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has increased its presence in Tunisia with the opening of its eleventh property in the country. The four-star Iberostar Safira Palms, located in the beautiful area of Zarzis, sits opposite the island of Djerba in the south of Tunisia and cost €14 million.

Heike Genshow Director of Marketing said:

‘Tunisia is a great destination for the British traveller.  Brits are looking for alternative destinations that give them the best value for money.  A large percentage of our business comes from repeat visits because our customers know they can expect excellent value for money in destinations all over the world.  I think the Safira Palms will be a popular choice for British holidaymakers who will be able to enjoy a top quality Tunisian experience at a price to suit their budget.’

The 300-room hotel has been specifically designed for families.  As well as having a number of family rooms or two rooms with a connecting door, the hotel has an excellent range of activities and entertainment on offer for kids of all ages.  The mini-club, is available for children aged between 4 and 12, and there is a kid’s pool located in the beautiful gardens of the hotel.

While the children are being entertained, the parents can relax in the hamman and indulge in a stress-busting massage, enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools, or keep up their fitness regime by playing tennis, beach volleyball or watersports.

Tunisia welcomed 312,000 British travellers in 2007.
