Amadeus and Qantas ink insurance deal

Amadeus and signed a deal to power the online insurance service for, the website of Qantas airlines.The insurance service, provided by Australian insurance company QBE, enables customers to easily pay for their chosen insurance policy while booking airline tickets.

David Brett, President of Amadeus Asia Pacific said, “This is the first application of this particular technology for Amadeus in Asia Pacific. Customers visiting can now purchase insurance as part of the flight booking process, which means it is quick and easy, with no additional input of information required.

This integrated technology helps to remind travellers of the need to buy insurance, and ensures many more travellers are protected when they travel.

Also, a first in the region for Amadeus Insurance is the XML direct connect technology used to connect QBE Insurance to Amadeus. This technology queries the insurance provider’s product database before providing information to the customer in real time, which ensures they receive accurate information on insurance policies.
