Travelport plans virtual car training

21st Jul 2008

Travelport GDS is to run a series of interactive training sessions for agents on its popular Galileo CarMaster product.

The Galileo Virtual Car Training courses give Galileo-connected agents the opportunity to interact with trainers in a ‘real-time’ classroom environment, all from the comfort of their own office.

Each course is split into three “bite-sized” modules, with sessions taking place over a two-day period. Courses will take place once a month from now until the end of the year.

Galileo’s Virtual Car Training covers all aspects of Galileo CarMaster functionality, including delivery and collection and the product’s recently introduced e-voucher functionality with Sixt and Hertz.  The three modules are:

Car 1 (1 Hour)

Introduction to Galileo CarMaster; Features and benefits;  Participation levels; three steps to booking success

Cars 2 (1.5 Hours)
Information and Availability; Encode/Decode; Communicating with car vendors; Car index; Availability; Reference points; Booking with flights

Cars 3 (1.5 Hours)
Car descriptions; Rules validation; Selling; Modify; Cancel; Direct selling

Travelport GDS Senior Director Hospitality and Car Rental, EMEA, Asia and Pacific, Jane Lewis commented:

“Travelport GDS has already enjoyed considerable success with our existing Virtual Hotels Training, which has been running for the last 12 months, so it made sense to extend the idea to car rental bookings. Our trainers work through Powerpoint examples, they show real availability searches and actual booking process. They are also available to answer any questions.

“The beauty of these online interactive training sessions is that they can be taken by up to 10 people in any one office, and agents can choose the modules they need to take depending on their expertise.  We have also made them very flexible, so they fit conveniently into the working day.”

Places on the courses are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. They will take place on July 29/31; August 19/21; September 23/25; October 28/30; November 25/27; and December 16/18.
