Emirates, one of the last airlines to feel the impact of record fuel prices, is cutting its daily service between Dubai and Alexandria from 10 September. It is also aborting its proposed launch of a new daily route from Dubai to Durban. The Dubai national carrier said its existing services to Egypt and South Africa will continue unchanged.  Emirates had timed the Durban route launch to capitalise on the high seasonal traffic flows between Europe and South Africa.
