Star revamps sales team

Star Cruise has honed the focus of its European sales and marketing function with a change in the role of the management team. Michael Dupont, previously sales and marketing director, Europe, takes on the role of assistant vice president - sales.

Mr Dupont remains based in the European office of Star Cruises in Kensington, London. The European offices are also home to other brands in the Star Cruises group including Norwegian Cruise Line.

The changing role reflects the growth of the European cruise market for Star Cruises for cruises year-round in the Far East. 2008 sees Star Cruises offer cruises in Asia from both Hong Kong and Singapore with ships based in each of the growing Asian cruise hubs.

Michael Dupont, assistant vice president - sales, commented:

“The untapped potential in the European market is a large growth area for Star Cruises. The increasing number of long-haul friendly cruises of at least five-nights means that we have more options to sell in these markets. To support this we have enhanced the booking process and agents can now take advantage of live availability online and sell cruise-only itineraries as part of a tailormade Far East tour.”
