Amadeus is preparing to release the next phase of its distribution partnership with easyJet with functionality that exceeds what the airline can offer on its consumer website.The technology, which is currently only on offer to the business travel community, will be released later this month and enable agents to modify bookings by adding to existing itineraries or make time, date or passenger name changes.
Agents will also be able to add special service requests such as ‘speedy boarding’.
The company is hopeful that building up a strong relationship with easyJet will open up greater distribution, including leisure, in the future.
Amadeus UK managing director Stephane Durand said: “From a technology perspective we have done our part and can technically open it up to any Amadeus partner.
“We need time to help them understand the benefit of opening up greater distribution but there is an excellent relationship and they are keen to work together.”
It is also poised to start a pilot of its Amadeus Rail Plus for UK rail bookings. The pilot is being run in conjunction with five agencies over the summer with a plan for it to be released to the market in late August or September.
Amadeus has just signed a further 10-year deal with British Airways covering departure control systems including passenger check-in and flight departure management in addition to the existing relationship over reservations technology.
