Record-breaking property exhibition in Abu Dhabi

Property markets in Europe and the States may be in retreat but in the Middle East it remains full steam ahead, if the latest figures are to go by. Record numbers turned rocked up to this year’s Cityscape in Abu Dhabi, which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from May 13-16. Orgnaisers Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and IIR Middle East have revealed that 50,000 participants attended this year’s Cityscape Abu Dhabi. During the four-day event it is estimated that billions of Dirhams worth of property deals were done.

The opening day saw a very significant increase on the 2007 event, with more than 11,000 participants attending; and an additional fourth day was added to the show to meet the extremely high level of demand from visitors.

Jessica Sutherland, General Manager IIR Middle East, stated “Final participation at Cityscape Abu Dhabi including visitors registered at the show, pre-registered visitors, VIP guests, conference delegates and exhibitors’ guests was 50,000; a phenomenal figure and a credit to Abu Dhabi.”

Simon Horgan, ADNEC Group CEO added, “We knew that this year’s Cityscape Abu Dhabi would be a popular event because the formula is right here: a booming property market, a world-class organiser and one of the world’s most modern venues.  The Cityscape brand is a global one and stretches to seven destinations in three continents, but because of the expanded facilities provided by ADNEC due to open in October 2008, next year’s Cityscape Abu Dhabi will be largest of them all.”

Cityscape Abu Dhabi will return to ADNEC next year - dates to be confirmed.
