BDL, buys two Best Western hotels

Scottish based hotel group, BDL, have announced the creation of a new joint venture company named BDL Select Hotels, and have already bought its first four properties - of which two are Best Western Hotels.BDL Select purchased the first four hotels in its strategy to create a portfolio of quality independent mid market hotels in key locations across the UK. BDL is better known for its development of over 30 branded new build hotels in the last 8 years.

BDL Select have today confirmed that it has already set up an operational team, headed by John O’Malley, to operate both the popular Best Western Grosvenor Hotel in Stratford Upon Avon and the Best Western Marks Tey Hotel in Colchester, along with two other independent hotels in Bedford and Hayling Island.

 

John O’Malley stated “I am excited by the opportunity to create a new portfolio of hotels with the backing of the team at BDL.”

“The purchase of several Best Western hotels allows us to leverage the existing Best Western marketing systems, whilst introducing our own unique blend of operational and marketing expertise. An injection of capital will allow us to upgrade bars, restaurants and bedrooms and re-position the hotels within their respective marketplaces”.

 

Best Western has over 280 hotels within Great Britain, of which all are independently owned and managed. Companies such as BDL, often join the group for branding and marketing support.

 

David Clarke, Chief Executive of Best Western said of the news; “We will be continuing to support the two hotels in the Best Western brand and look forward to a good working relationship with BDL.”
