Travelocity wins innovation prize
Travelocity won the prestigious “Innovator of the Year Award” for established companies at the Travel Industry Association’s annual TravelCom conference for its travel dreaming and planning tool, ExperienceFinder.The award recognizes companies whose outstanding innovations have transformed and had a broad impact across the travel industry. The award was presented at the conference on April 10 in front of several hundred attendees.
“ExperienceFinder is changing the way in which people dream, plan, shop and book their travel,” said Troy Whitsett, vice president of design and innovation. “We are thrilled to win this award, and look forward to continue getting the word out to more people about how this tool will open up their imaginations to entirely new travel wishes.”
Beating out a large number of other applicants from all walks of the industry, ExperienceFinder won after showing the great impact it is having on travelers, including:
* ExperienceFinder turns the premise for online shopping on its head by changing the focus from shopping and booking, to dreaming, planning.
* People using ExperienceFinder are able to find all the tools they need to make an informed decision, which is why the session duration for ExperienceFinder is two and a half times greater than Travelocity.com.
* Call-center customers who visit ExperienceFinder end up booking 10 times more often than those who don’t use the tool.
“A panel of diverse industry experts was impressed that ExperienceFinder gave travelers the unique opportunity to create memories at the beginning of the travel planning process,” said Vickie Singer, general manager of TravelCom and vice president of strategic partnerships for the Travel Industry Association.
