Ramachandran takes Kingfisher sales role

Kingfisher Airlines has appointed Siva Ramachandran to the role of Vice President Global Sales, based in the company’s Mumbai hub.Siva Ramachandran, widely known in the industry as ‘Rama’, brings a wealth of experience to the role, gained over 32 years in the airline business. His aviation career started with Singapore Airlines followed by an eleven year tenure with Sri Lankan Airlines. His last role prior to the move to Kingfisher Airlines was at Qatar Airways in the UK as Regional Manager with responsibilities spanning several countries in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Kingfisher Airlines, headed by their dynamic Chairman Dr Vijay Mallya, launched services in 2005 and currently operates 218 flights a day serving 37 destinations in India with a fleet of 36 brand new aircraft. It was the first Indian airline to have confirmed orders for the A380, with five aircraft on order and options on a further five, due to begin delivery in 2011. 

Additional orders include the widebody A340-500s, A330s, A350s, A320s, plus ATR 72-500s. The airline, which was awarded the prestigious Five Star Rating by Sky Trax, will launch their international service in the latter part of 2008, with a planned network covering North America, Europe, Middle East, South Asia and Far East.
