Peninsula Hong Kong celebrates 80th

This year, The Peninsula Hong Kong celebrates its 80th anniversary and a year of celebrations, including delectable dinners, tea dances and rejuvenating spa breaks, has been launched. Some of the highlights include:

THE Peninsula Hong Kong Nature Programme - travel by The Peninsula’s very own helicopter to some of the territory’s most unspoilt areas including Tai Long Wan and Po Toi Island - only accessible by sea or air.  From here, board a luxury yacht for a Champagne lunch and cruise to the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier where a chauffeured Rolls-Royce awaits to return you to the hotel.  From HK$60,880 for up to four people.  Other programmes include meeting a Feng Shui master and creating a commemorative photo journal of your holiday with your own personal photographer.

DINING PROGRAMMES:  Many new and exciting dining programmes will also be on offer throughout the year.  Highlights include:

AFTERNOON TEA DANCES, held in The Lobby, have been revived taking place on the first Sunday of each month from March to December.  Every aspect of The Lobby will be transformed to a past era - from its waiters and waitresses in period costume to its ‘cigarette girls’ selling sweets and chocolate ‘cigars’.  Guests are invited to step back in time with the Peninsula Swing’s own brand of big band music and enjoy a delicious Deluxe Afternoon Tea Set, including a glass of Champagne, for HK$498 (subject to 10% service charge) per person.

“Gaddi’s Classics” - Hong Kong’s oldest and finest French restaurant, Gaddi’s, which first opened its doors in 1953, will be celebrating its 55th anniversary this year and for this momentous occasion, “Gaddi’s Classics”, a special six-course menu comprising the restaurant’s signature dishes throughout the decades has been created. Including a glass of Champagne, Gaddi’s Classics is available at both lunch and dinner for HK$1,953 per person (subject to 10% service charge). Served from 1st January to 17th December 2008, the à la carte menu will also available throughout the year.

 

The Peninsula Spa by ESPA “80th Anniversary Rejuvenation Package” - a full day wellness retreat for two that includes:  a poolside breakfast or lunch for two; use of the Private Spa for Two with its own infinity whirlpool double bath, a steam and shower room and sweeping harbour views; one 30-minute ESPA Salt and Oil full body exfoliation per person; one 1-hour 20-minute Aromatherapy massage and Oriental head massage per person; one 50-minute Intensive Facial per person; one bottle of limited edition 80th Anniversary Peninsula Champagne per person (for guests to take home); one special gift from The Spa (valued at HK$500) per person.  Costs from HK$ 8,080 for two, and is available Monday - Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.

A fascinating collection of photos, artifacts and mementos depicting The Peninsula’s history will also be on display on the first floor of the hotel outside The Bar throughout the year.
