Austrian unveils Euros fan site

Austrian Airlines has taken another step towards fine-tuning its approach to the European Football Championship 2008 with its new internet website, www.fanline08.at. The site is oriented towards football fans worldwide, and anybody who thinks they might like to become one! Starting today, long before the Football Championship 2008 kicks off, fans from all across Europe will be able to visit the website to find out all they might need to know about Austria: The different venues, fan miles, cities and public viewing zones. The site provides useful tips on how to travel to the matches and find accommodation when in the various locations. The Fun Corner section is overflowing with offbeat, entertaining details surrounding the world’s most beautiful game of football. The site will motivate users and fans to join in the fun with continuously updated contributions, interactive maps, publicised user commentaries and a wide range of videos, photos, insider tips and competitions.

www.fanline08.at is at the very heart of all the activities of Austrian Airlines surrounding the biggest sporting event to be held in Austria for many years. The site will shortly be available in several different languages, ensuring that it will inform and inspire non-German-speaking fans worldwide also. The site is refreshingly designed, imparting valuable information with a wink of the eye. Particularly interesting to fans will be the competitions, each featuring great prizes: a Meet&Greet session with Christina Stürmer, flatscreen televisions, tickets for trips to European cities in Austrian Business Class, flights around Austria with Austrian Airlines and many more prizes can be won. Everyone is welcome to take part online.

“The European Championship is a huge symbol of the year 2008 for Austrian Airlines, too,” commented Peter Baumgartner, Executive Vice President Customer Services & Product Management. “I am very pleased indeed that we will be offering football fans around the world such an attractive programme of entertainment online and live at the ‘official fan mile of the City of Vienna’ at Rathausplatz in Vienna. Sixteen teams will be playing for just one trophy at the Football Championship 2008, but at the website www.fanline08.at, everyone can be a winner!”

Just before the grand opening of the tournament, this “virtual world” will be extended to include attractions and stage shows at an Austrian Airlines stand on the Rathausplatz fan mile in Vienna. As a partner of the City of Vienna, Austrian will present a programme of colourful and topical shows for young and old alike from 7 to 29 Jun 2008, on a space some 200 m? in size. This will ensure the entertainment continues around the clock - even on days of the tournament when no matches are being played. Highlights of the show will include guest appearances by Christina Stürmer (including Meet&Greet session), excerpts from hit Queen musical We Will Rock You and a host of exciting surprises in the Austrian Airlines fan area itself.
