Cargosystems acquires Softair

CHAMP Cargosystems has acquired 100% of the shares of SOFTAIR AG, a market leader in providing integrated software solutions to cargo carriers and their distribution partners with over 100 airline customers around the world.

John Johnston, CHAMP CEO, said: “Through this acquisition, CHAMP Cargosystems is reinforcing its long-term commitment as the leading provider of integrated solutions to the global supply chain market for air cargo. Coupled with significant investment in new products and services since the creation of CHAMP Cargosystems, this acquisition accelerates our vision to deliver the world’s first fully integrated enterprise model capable of powering any cargo operation to success.

“The SOFTAIR acquisition enables CHAMP to expand and reinforce its addressable market to include ground handling agents, general sales agents and forwarders thereby supporting the full air cargo supply chain.”

Zurich-based SOFTAIR AG was created in 1985 by a group of Swiss industrialists and established a leading position with its workstation-based product Cargo-one. More recently SOFTAIR AG introduced the first of its new java/oracle based CARGOSPOT suite of products, gaining considerable global success in the market.

Dr. Gabriel Weisskopf, CEO and founder of SOFTAIR AG, said: “The merger of these two innovative companies makes clear business sense for both CHAMP and SOFTAIR. The combination of expertise and best of breed systems means that CHAMP can now offer both licensed and hosted software services providing benefits to all participants in the air cargo process no matter what size of cargo operation, based on an open systems platform.”
