Bombardier Aerospace announced that Libyan Airlines of Libya has signed a firm order for two Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen regional jets. This order represents the conversion of the two options taken with Libyan Airlines’ initial firm order for three CRJ900 aircraft, announced on June 14, 2007.
All three previously ordered aircraft have since been delivered.
Based on the list price of the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the transaction announced today is valued at approximately $76 million U.S.
Libyan Airlines CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft have a two-class interior with seven business class and 68 economy class seats.
“With this order, we are continuing our fleet renewal program with state-of-the-art aircraft,” said Eng. Tarek Arebi, Chairman, Libyan Airlines.
“We are very pleased with the success the CRJ NextGen aircraft program has with airlines and we are delighted that Libyan Airlines has selected the CRJ900 NextGen regional jet,” said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. “Thirteen airlines have now placed a total of 172 firm orders for CRJ700 NextGen, CRJ900 NextGen and CRJ1000 NextGen airliners.”
Including the order announced today, 229 CRJ900 or CRJ900 NextGen airliners are now in service with, or have been ordered by, 17 airlines around the world. As of October 31, 2007, Bombardier had delivered 1,452 CRJ Series aircraft.
