US Airways has introduced new, upgraded menus for customers seated in its First Class cabin on flights in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.The new menus were developed in conjunction with LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest airline caterer, and the input of US Airways flight attendants, and are based on classic American cuisine, featuring fresh, high-quality ingredients with an emphasis on healthier choices.
Kevin Jackson, managing director, consumer and partnership marketing said, “We surveyed over 3,000 of our frequent flyers this past spring and they told us that they wanted healthier, better-quality meals and more variety to choose from. We listened to them and have developed tasty, more nutritious menus that suit their needs depending on what time of day they’re traveling.”
Some of the new menus customers may choose from include an omelet with chicken sausage and potatoes with a side of fresh fruit and a flaky croissant for breakfast; a Southwestern Cobb salad with turkey, egg, and tomatoes accompanied by a hearty roll for lunch; and seared pork loin in a port wine sauce with fingerling potatoes and roasted peppers for dinner. Lunch and dinner menus also include a dessert.
In addition to traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, US Airways has expanded their menus to offer light fare menus to customers traveling mid-morning and mid-afternoon, when a full breakfast or lunch might not be the best fit for customers’ needs. A light-fare morning menu includes a three-cheese quiche accompanied by a spring greens salad and a light-fare afternoon menu includes fettuccini with salmon and sun-dried tomatoes in a garlic parmesan cheese sauce with a spring mix salad.
With the new menus, which will change every other month to offer customers more variety, comes a return to traditional First Class amenities, as well. Customers will now enjoy silverware, which replaces plastic utensils, in the First Class cabin, and the airline will continue serving First Class meals on china.
The upgrade to First Class meals and amenities is just one in a series of enhancements to the airline’s inflight experience that customers said were important to them that will be made over the next several months. In October, US Airways upgraded its Inflight Cafi program by rolling out new meals for purchase in the coach cabin that change every two months. This spring, the airline will dibut new economy class meals on transatlantic flights and new meals and service in their transatlantic premium cabin, Envoy.
