AirAsia plans India flights

Budget airline AirAsia Bhd and long-haul carrier AirAsia X are planning to begin flights to India in late 2008, according to reports.
Business Times reported that AirAsia plans to fly daily to cities in southern India and AirAsia X aims to ply the Kuala Lumpur-Amritsar route three to four times a week.

The carrier’s chief executive Fernandes was quoted as saying that the carriers - both controlled by the same shareholders - each intend to eventually fly to four destinations in India in the next two to three years.
