Rezidor Group expands Radisson portfolio

The Rezidor Hotel Group is signing the 200th Radisson hotel in the Rezidor portfolio: the Radisson Hotel Jumeirah Dubai, slated to open at the end of 2009.

“To have 200 properties in operation and under development is a significant milestone in our history,” said Kurt Ritter, president & CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group. “The first Radisson SAS hotel opened in 1960 in Copenhagen, and Radisson has since become one of the leading first class hotel brands in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa.”

The Radisson Hotel Jumeirah Dubai will be located in Jumeirah beach, overlooking The Palm, and within the free zone of Dubai Media City where Rezidor also manages the Radisson SAS Hotel Dubai Media City.  Additionally, Rezidor currently manages the Radisson SAS Hotel Dubai Deira Creek and has a fourth hotel under development. The new hotel will offer 240 rooms and suites, as well as two restaurants on the 37th floor of the hotel, offering panoramic views of the city below.  The property will also feature 13 meeting rooms and a ballroom, as well as a pool and fitness center. The hotel is located five minutes away from the Dubai beachfront, and 20 minutes from the international airport.

The Radisson hotel brand has become widely known for its large number of “new breed” hotels; defined as newly built properties with contemporary architecture and design, such as the Radisson SAS Hotel Berlin, which has the world’s largest freestanding aquarium; the Radisson SAS Hotel London Stansted Airport, boasting Europe’s only freestanding “Wine Tower”; and the Radisson SAS Hotel Frankfurt, with a striking 325-foot tall blue disc design that has become an icon on the city’s skyline.

“This has been another very successful year for Rezidor,” says Ritter. “Our goal is to open 20,000 new rooms between 2007 and 2009, and we already have secured 85 percent of our goal.”
