Malév expands wine choice

Malév Hungarian Airlines rotates its wine selection every three months, introducing distinctive Hungarian wine regions and cellars to its customers.
As the national airline Malév devotes considerable attention to ensuring a good choice of Hungarian dishes and quality wines. From the beginning of December business class passengers can enjoy the following fine wines:
Eger Bull’s Blood barrique (2003) unites the finest characteristics of grape varieties grown on the mineral-rich volcanic soils of the famed wine region. Ruby-red in hue with a velvety, subtly spiced bouquet, this wine is traditionally fermented over barrel shavings and bottled only after lengthy maturing in oak casks.
Another wine on offer is the Pázmándi Cabernet Sauvignon - Pinot Noir Cuvée (2003), a conjunction of two deservedly world-famous French vine-growing regions (Bordeaux and Burgundy). It is an opportunity to savour the happy blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with its distinctive character and subtle flavours and the charming, spicy yet elegant Pinot Noir.
The two white wines derive from the Neszmély region, northwest Hungary. The Hilltop Chardonnay 2006 is a full-bodied, round and well-balanced dry white enhanced by the expertise and dedication of Hilltop’s famous winemaker çkos Kamocsay to emphasise the best features of the terroir. Recommended to savour on its own or with spicy white meat dishes.
The unique Hungaro Neszmély Cserszegi Fűszeres is created from an indigenous Hungarian grape variety, a crossing of Irsai Olivér and Gewürztraminer, which blends the qualities of both grapes. Cserszegi’s fragrant gooseberry aroma is reminiscent of Irsai’s airy lightness, whilst its spice and scent of orange rind and lychee recall Gewürztraminer
In the face of competition from low cost carriers, Malév continues to provide an “all-frills” service at “no-frills” prices, including allocated seats and a full meal service offering fine wines in both business and economy class.  Flying to over 60 destinations worldwide from its Budapest hub, the airline operates affordable, double-daily flights to Budapest from Gatwick from £106pp return inclusive of taxes and charges.
