Union backs strike for Virgin crew

According to press reports, the Unite union has urged 3,100 of its members who are cabin crew at Virgin Atlantic to vote for strike action when balloted over pay.If action were to take place, following a three week ballot, it would be the airline’s first-ever strike.

Staff say they are paid less than at competing airlines, particularly British Airways, but Virgin say their offer of 4.8% over two years is the best in the airline industry in 2007.
