visiteurope.com launches Japan site

It is a year and a half since the European tourism portal visiteurope.com was given its worldwide launch at the European Tourism Ministers’ Conference in Vienna on March 21st 2006. After launching visiteurope.com in the American markets (USA, Canada and Latin America), ETC always saw the next priority as being Japan, a market where up to 70% of the population is online.

“When coming to Europe, three out of four Japanese travellers visit more than one country. This is why many of them are discovering that visiteurope.com is the ideal place for them to gather really useful ideas and information on each of them” said Robert Franklin, ETC Executive Director.

“Europe is very popular with Japanese tourists, which is why we had more than 260 journalists, National Tourist Office representatives, suppliers and members of the travel industry attend the launch event in Tokyo. We will do our utmost to ensure that every Japanese visitor to visiteurope.com is offered the best service possible to help them select their next vacation destination” said Sophia Panayiotaki, ETC’s Chairman in Japan.

Karine Bruère, Online Marketing Manager for the portal, explained:

“In addition to being a portal, giving direct access to all National Tourist Offices’ websites, visiteurope.com also provides cross-border tourist information: you can browse and discover the various regions of Europe (like the Danube, Benelux, the Baltic States etc.), as well as get information on themed travel throughout Europe on history, entertainment, culture, music, nature, shopping and much more.
