GOL has begun daily operations to its 59th
destination, Sao Jose dos Campos, in Sao Paulo.Sao Jose dos Campos is the 21st destination outside of Brazil’s state
capitals and the fourth city outside of the capital in Sao Paulo state
served by GOL. Daily flights will depart from Tom Jobim Airport, in Rio de
Janeiro, and will connect Vale do Paraiba, one of Brazil’s most important
economic regions, to all destinations served by the Company.
The city is home to approximately 610,000 residents and its R$24,000
GDP (gross domestic product) is the third largest per capita in Sao Paulo,
according to IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica).
According to City Hall data, Sao Jose dos Campos employs approximately
47,000 workers in more than 1,251 industries, including automotive,
telecommunications, aerospace and defense, chemical-pharmaceutical and oil.
“This new route will benefit the Vale do Paraiba area by connecting the
region to the 58 destinations served by GOL. The beginning of operations in
Sao Jose dos Campos, a city with a strong economy and thriving technology
industry, is important to the ongoing expansion of our route network,” says
Tarcisio Gargioni, GOL’s vice-president of Marketing and Services.
