The SAS Group has appointed Lars Sandahl S¿rensen Chief Executive Officer of Scandinavian Airlines International, the long-haul division of SAS.Sandahl will succeed Lars Lindgren, who will take the position as Executive Chairman of the Board of Spanair, a member of the SAS Group.

It is therefore an exciting time for us to drive SAS International forward and position ourselves at the forefront of the aviation industry.”

SAS International has expanded with three new routes this year (Stockholm-Beijing, Stockholm-Bangkok and Copenhagen-Dubai) and recently announced two new routes for 2008 (Copenhagen-New Delhi and Copenhagen-San Francisco). The SAS long-haul network provides excellent connections between the US and Northern Europe, as well as Asia.

Lars Sandahl S¿rensen joined Scandinavian Airlines International as General Manager, Australia and New Zealand, in 2003. In September 2006, he returned to Scandinavia and took on the role as Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to SAS, Sandahl S¿rensen was CEO of the Danish Tourist Board Visit Denmark.

Scandinavian Airlines International is the long-haul operator of SAS with 1.4 million passengers per year. The fleet consists of 11 Airbus 330/340 which serves 10 destinations: New York, Chicago, Washington, Seattle, Bangkok, Beijing, Tokyo, Dubai, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
