The improvements derive from a 6 month study of user interaction with their holiday website ( using Google’s optimiser tool. In using their beach holiday site as a test-ground, it enabled the directline-skiing team to conduct real time ‘scenario testing’ during the skiing ‘off season’. marketing manager Matt Adams said: “It’s not ideal to conduct ‘scenario testing’ on a website that sells beach holidays for a skiing website but because skiing has a such a long research phase and a short selling season, we couldn’t afford to wait to make changes”. now features the largest and most popular winter sports resorts throughout Europe and North America with detailed content on hundreds of resorts and ski areas. The new site also provides helpful information for large groups, individuals and families, as well as the most suitable resorts for every skiing ability (beginners, intermediates and advanced). sales director Matthew Flint said: “Our aim is to provide all of the information someone could need when researching a ski holiday, put it together in a straightforward and understandable way and let the customer book online at their convenience. Users can search for a destination based on the facilities on offer, the snow conditions, things to do around the resort and even read other customer reviews within the same resort.” will retain all of its experienced telephone travel consultants due to the personal touch still required by customers, and are even planning to expand on the number. Matthew Flint added: “We know that many people still want to talk to someone who knows the resort and how suitable it is based on the customer’s requirements. Someone who can answer any query a customer may have.
