Sri Lanka Tourism has assured tourists that terrorist attacks at Anuradhapura should have no impact on their stay or their travel plans.SL Air Force base at Anuradhapura came under terrorist attack around 3 a.m this morning. According to defence sources, a small group of LTTE terrorists infiltrated the air base and launched an attack. Meanwhile an LTTE light aircraft has dropped 1-2 bombs at the air base around 4 a.m., while the ground attack was on. Air Force personnel have brought the situation under control with some reported damage to military equipment.

This is a terrorist and military engagement at an Air Force base limited to its perimeters. Sri Lanka Tourism informed that there is no direct impact on tourists or tourism operations from this incident and that there was no cause for alarm for the tourism industry.
