The UK’s Office of National Statistics has showed that one million more travelled—increasing from 68.6 to 69.6 million, an all time record for the number of overseas visits.

Visits to Europe and North America rose by 1 percent but travel to long haul destinations rose by 7 percent, representing 1 in 7 of all trips made, reflecting the growing adventurous nature of UK holidaymakers.

Justin Fleming ABTA President said: “Our love affair with foreign travel is in fine shape. Europe is still our number one destination but we are increasingly looking to visit other parts of the world and ABTA members are at the forefront of making these dreams a reality.”
