KLM plans North Atlantic expansion

KLM announces together with Northwest Airlines expansion plans on the North Atlantic route network with a new daily nonstop service from Amsterdam to Portland, Oregon.

Scheduled to begin March 30, 2008, Northwest’s nonstop Portland-Amsterdam service will utilize Airbus A330-200 aircraft to conveniently connect Portland and the Pacific Northwest to cities throughout Europe via Northwest/KLM’s Amsterdam hub. Northwest’s Portland-Amsterdam service will also provide convenient connections for customers traveling beyond Portland via partner airlines Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

The start-up of the new service to Portland is part of KLM/Northwest Airlines’ commitment to serve the North American market. Portland will be the twentieth North American destination served by the combined KLM - Northwest Airlines Joint Venture via Schiphol. In total, Northwest Airlines and KLM will operate 257 flights per week between Europe and North America.

Flight NW91 (KL6091) will depart from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the morning and arrives the same day in Portland. The return flight, NW92 (KL6092), will depart from Portland in the afternoon and arrives at Schiphol the following day in the morning. This schedule offers excellent connections with European, Indian and African services.
