Domestic strength drives Air Berlin traffic

Air Berlin has reported positive figures for September 2007 with the number of
passengers transported reaching 2,454,637 passengers, a 21 percent
increase in comparison with the corresponding month of the previous year
As Joachim Hunold, Air Berlin’s CEO, stated
in Berlin on Monday: “September has been the month with the highest increase
for the year so far.” The accumulated number of passengers welcomed on board
is impressive as well: For the first nine months of the year 2007, the number
of passengers flying Air Berlin increased by 14.2 percent. From January to
Sep-tember 2007, the number of passengers travelling with Air Berlin reached
17,225,274 (2006: 15,078,730). At 83.6 percent, capacity utilization for
September 2007 shows a 2.4 percentage point increase compared to the
corresponding month of the previous year (2006: 81.2 percent). The
accumulated capacity utilization rate for the first nine months of 2007
increased by 1.5 percentage points, i.e. from 76.1 to 77.6 percent. Flight
revenue per available seat kilometer amounted to 6.02 € cents, i.e. slightly
below the revenue figure recorded for the corresponding month of the previous
year (-3.1 percent). In September 2007, the following German airports recorded
exceptional growth for Air Berlin: Stuttgart (+43 percent), Düsseldorf (+42
percent), Munich (+29 per-cent) and Hamburg (+29 percent).
