WRI opens New York office

Web Reservations International (WRI) are a new office in New York in a move that will increase the company’s international presence with offices already in Dublin, Sydney, San Mateo and Shanghai.

The opening ceremony, held in the Irish Consulate in New York was attended by Micheál Martin, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, who is in the US on an Enterprise Ireland trade mission. Mr Martin said “It is wonderful to see successful Irish businesses continuing to grow and expand and I’m delighted to open the New York office of one of Ireland’s foremost dot com successes, Web Reservations International. The US offers Irish entrepreneurs a wealth of business opportunities and it is important that we continue to foster the strong ties that exist between Ireland and the US.”

WRI Chief Operations Officer Feargal Mooney who was in New York for the official opening said “The US already represents a large part of our business, and we are keen to build on that strong foundation. WRI already provides online reservations to over 20,000 hotels and hostels throughout the US. Last year alone we booked more than 1.25 million room nights into US properties, and processed bookings for 35 million room nights from US customers travelling to destinations throughout the world. By establishing ourselves in New York it gives us the chance to take advantage of the business opportunities available in the US and demonstrates our desire to create an even bigger presence over there, especially for our new website boo.com.”

WRI delivers online reservations to over 50,000 properties worldwide through flagship websites including Hostelworld.com and Hostels.com in the budget accommodation space and boo.com and Worldres.com in the hotels space.
