SWISS adds Manchester Geneva flight

SWISS is set to increase its network out of northern England with the addition of a weekly direct flight from Manchester to Geneva from Sunday 16 December. The new scheduled route, now bookable on SWISS.COM/UK from just £148 return including all taxes, is the first new direct route out of Manchester since the addition of Basel in January 2007. The frequency to Basel will in winter 2007 and January 2008 be increased to up to six weekly flights, complimenting the route to Zurich which has already been served out of Manchester for many years.

The addition to the winter timetable will be operated by an Avro RJ100, leaving Manchester at 09:40 and arriving in Geneva at 11:50. The return fight, also on Sundays, leaves at 12:30 and arrives back in Manchester at 14:40. The route is set to run until 23 March 2008.

As well as offering a direct connection to the city of Geneva itself and all its winter offerings, the new service will afford travellers access to a range of acclaimed ski resorts in the nearby area such as Les Gets, Morzine, Megeve, Chatel, Avoriaz, Chamonix, Villars and Verbier.

SWISS is growing at a steady and sustainable pace. This summer Switzerland’s national airline added a range of new destinations reachable from the UK published six-month net profit figures of £125m. As a result of continuing success and expansion SWISS is keen to build on its dedication to connecting the UK regions with Switzerland and the rest of the world.

Gregor Koncilja, country sales manager UK & Ireland at SWISS, said, “We are delighted to be offering this additional connection between the UK and Switzerland, which demonstrates our commitment to both the Lake Geneva area and to our customers in northern England, north Wales and Scotland. Leisure travellers looking for a ski holiday or extended city break can now escape conveniently and directly to Geneva, whilst enjoying the services of a top quality airline and the associated benefits of free baggage allowance, complimentary transportation of skis, food and beverage and, of course, Swiss hospitality from the moment they board the flight.
