Tourism Malaysia rolls out emotive campaign

Tourism Malaysia is launching a promotional campaign based on the emotive and evergreen Rasa Sayang folk song in conjunction with Malaysia’s 50th year of independence.

The campaign calls upon all Malaysians, and everyone living in Malaysia to act as ambassadors for the nation and to invite their respective family, friends and business associates to come and celebrate the nation’s 50th year of independence together.

This nationwide integrated campaign is publicised through TV commercials, print newspaper ads, radio, outdoor materials, and online media contests. The Rasa Sayang song, sung in five different local languages with lyrics that reflect Malaysian mannerisms and speech, is an integral part of the campaign.

A specially dedicated website features an online competition and enables people to send personalised invitations to their friends around the world to celebrate Malaysia’s golden independence. There are three versions of personalised e-invites for family, friends and colleagues, in seven different language options, i.e. English, Mandarin, Tamil, Hindi, French, Japanese, Arabic, and Bahasa Malaysia.  Domestic holiday package prizes will be rewarded to those who send the most number of e-invites and complete a pantun.  The contest runs from 3rd September until 30th November and is open to all Malaysians.

The website also has information on Malaysia’s 50th golden anniversary celebrations, events, promotions and attractions through links to the main Tourism Malaysia website.

The campaign also incorporates a personal touch from our Prime Minister, the Hon. Datuk Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi. For the first time, exclusive personal invitation cards from the Prime Minister will invite foreign guests, their family and friends to share and rejoice with Malaysians in the golden anniversary celebrations.  These invitations which will be distributed through leading hotels nationwide, with the cooperation of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), are for foreign guests upon their check-out.
