Steiner inks deal for Maldives spa

Steiner Leisure has announced that its premier luxury spa division, Mandara Spa, has entered into an agreement to operate a luxury spa facility at the Alila Villas Hadahaa Resort on Hadahaa Island in North Huvadhoo Atoll in the Maldives. The term of the lease is for twelve years.

The spa will feature five double spa villas, with an outdoor pavilion for relaxation, a private changing room, shower and an outdoor bath. Other unique features include a reflection pool, lap pool, outdoor Jacuzzi and a lounge offering gourmet spa cuisine. The entire spa area is separated from the rest of the resort by lush landscaping, providing a feel of a spa village, complete with Maldivian thatching for villas and reception area. The treatment menu will feature a wide array of massages, scrubs, baths and herbal therapies. Steiner Leisure Limited will be required to expend $500,000 to build out and open this new spa facility.

The Alila Villas Hadahaa Resort is set on a tropical island in the North Huvadhoo Atoll. This island resort provides an experience of turquoise and azure waters and fine white beaches, complemented by tranquil settings. The resort’s 50 beach and water villas, some with private pools, reflect the Maldivian sense of space, with panoramic views stretching to the Horizon.

Mandara estimates that the new spa will open in July of 2008.

Jeff Matthews, President and Chief Operating Officer of Mandara Spa Asia Limited said, “We have had a long relationship with Alila Hotels and Resorts in Bali, Indonesia and are proud to announce our second Alila Villas project in the Maldives. We are excited to create ‘The Spa by Mandara’ brand for use at this resort which will incorporate Spa and wellness with interactive guest programs unique to the facilities.”
