VisitBritain teams up with TomTom

VisitBritain has signed a new partnership with TomTom, to put Points of Interests (POIs) such as attractions, tourist information centres and quality assessed accommodation across England onto TomTom satellite navigation systems.

Domestic holiday takers are forced to use many different sources to access tourism information. VisitBritain and TomTom have now developed a unique download service available at www.enjoyengland.com/tomtom that combines all relevant information in an ultimate ‘on the road’ tourism kit. Customers can easily access and transfer this information to a TomTom device through a unique ‘Add-to-my-TomTom’ button.

Tim Holt, senior partnership executive for VisitBritain’s England marketing division, says: “This partnership is a key element in our ambition to use as many different platforms as possible to reach out and engage in new and creative ways with potential visitors. It should particularly encourage casual and day visitors, putting them on the right route to a wealth of attractions and quality accommodation, as well as authoritative tourist information.”

“The availability of this revolutionary new technology gives satellite navigation an entire new dimension and sets us apart from other portable navigation solution providers,” says Andrzej Kasprzyk, vice president sales TomTom UK & Ireland. “The availability of so much extra travel content via Visit Britain through the innovative ‘Add-to-my-TomTom’ button complements any drivers’ journey.”
