China Airlines 737 explodes in Japan

Passengers were forced to slide down emergency chutes with only moments to spare before a Taiwanese airliner exploded and caught fire following a landing at Japan’s southern resort island of Okinawa. The left engine of the Boeing 737-800 jet which belongs to Taiwan-based China Airlines exploded shortly after arrival in Naha city from Taipei.

The spectacular explosion ripped the plane apart, witnesses claimed, but all 165 passengers and crew have escaped safely.

It seems possible that leaking fuel may have caught fire.
