AirAsia X flies to Victoria, Gold Coast

Malaysia’s new budget airline AirAsia X says it has secured the rights to fly to Avalon in Victoria, and to Queensland’s Gold Coast. AirAsia X chairman Seri Kalimullah Hassan said the airline expected to begin its first flight from Malaysia to Australia at the end of September or early October.

The airline also announced British billionaire Richard Branson would take a 20 per cent stake in the new long-haul budget carrier.
