Press: Air France-KLM raises Alitalia stake

Air France-KLM may raise its stake in Alitalia to up to 20 percent from 2 percent as the Italian government seeks a buyer for the unprofitable airline, Italian daily Il Giornale writes, without citing sources.
Air France-KLM would increase its stake and become an industrial partner in Italy’s flagship airline as part of the restructuring plan that Alitalia’s new Chairman Maurizio Prato is working on.

The Treasury, or companies tied to it, would keep a stake of about 20% from the current 49.9% to provide assurance to belligerent labor unions concerned about lay offs, the paper says.
