Worldspan removes Rapid Reprice borders

Worldspan, L.P. has removed technological borders with Worldspan Rapid Reprice Select (patent pending), making the travel industry’s first combined itinerary shopping and ticket repricing solution available to airlines worldwide. Rapid Reprice Select has the new and potent ability to shop and reprice international itineraries, regardless of the currency in which a ticket was originally issued, or in which currency the new ticket is to be issued.

Worldspan Rapid Reprice Select can be deployed across an airline’s enterprise to enable airline reservations and ticket agents, as well as online travel buyers at airline Web sites, to not only make changes to a ticketed itinerary, but also shop and retrieve up to five low-fare alternates and instantly complete a booking.

“A growing number of customers have adopted Rapid Reprice Select since it was introduced in the United States last year, and we are pleased to announce the global expansion of this commanding technology,” said Sue Powers, Worldspan chief information officer and senior vice president - Worldwide Product Solutions.

Rapid Reprice Select, introduced to Worldspan customers in the United States in 2006, eliminates the need for travel professionals and online buyers to conduct separate, time-consuming shopping and repricing requests to find more than one alternate itinerary. New options are shown in an integrated display with complete and accurate pricing, including appropriate fares, taxes, additional collections, refunds, penalties or administrative fees. Shopping, repricing and rebooking are completed in one efficient transaction. Rapid Reprice Select combines key features of Worldspan e-Pricing®, the global leader in low-fare shopping technology, with the core Rapid Reprice solution, the first tool to automate the time-consuming process of repricing airline tickets when itineraries change.

According to Powers, non-airline travel distributors that use Worldspan XML Pro or Worldspan Data Interface Record (DIR) messaging solutions as an interface to the Worldspan GDS can also take advantage of Rapid Reprice Select’s new international capabilities.
