Toronto steps up US media program

Tourism Toronto is significantly expanding its media relations program in the U.S. to raise Toronto’s profile as a top travel destination. One of North America’s top destination publicists, Michelle Revuelta, will become Toronto’s media representative in the U.S. beginning September 1, giving Toronto its strongest-ever presence in this media market.

Ms. Revuelta brings to Tourism Toronto 10 years’ experience in tourism market development, most recently as Associate Vice President, Media Relations for the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. Ms. Revuelta was responsible for national and international media programs, the Bureau’s media relations efforts in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia, as well as overseeing government and industry partner relations.

“Michelle played an integral role in the transformation of Miami into a successful destination brand, and we’re thrilled she sees similar potential for Toronto,” said David Whitaker, President and CEO of Tourism Toronto.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to become part of the Tourism Toronto team and continue to serve in an industry that I love,” said Revuelta. “As Toronto quickly becomes one of North America’s hippest travel destinations, delivering key international media will be vital in continuing to develop the Toronto story.”

“By attracting some of our industry’s best talents to market and sell Toronto we are putting our destination in the best position to succeed in a fiercely competitive market,” said Mr. Whitaker. In addition to Ms. Revuelta, Toronto recently announced the addition of top sales representatives in London and Washington, D.C.
