Regent plans Middle East debut

Regent Hotels & Resorts
announces plans to expand its portfolio of luxury hotels with the opening of The Regent Emirates Pearl in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.  Scheduled to open in 2010, the hotel will offer 365 rooms and 70 furnished apartments housed in a 47-story silhouette of twisting glass designed by Austria’s award-winning architect Dennis Lems. With its striking contemporary design, The Regent Emirates Pearl will be a coastal landmark on the South West of the city’s signature Comiche.

The hotel will house a modern interior conceptualized by MKV Design of LTD of London and inspired by the rich heritage of Abu Dhabi.  A dramatic 65-foot high atrium will form the center of the lobby area.  Guests will be able to choose from an extensive offering of six restaurants, including one on an island connected to the hotel, two lounges, four bars and a rooftop deck for dining and cocktails.

The Regent Emirates Pearl will offer luxury features, including an exclusive beach club with private beach access, indoor and outdoor pools, a health club and a luxury spa.  The hotel design will feature a multi-purpose ballroom, an on-site business center, six boardrooms and two conference rooms, making the hotel an appealing destination for both business and leisure travelers.

“We are delighted to open our first hotel in the United Arab Emirates,” says Steve Hedberg, vice president, operations and implementation for Regent Hotels & Resorts. “The contemporary design and high level of service of The Regent Emirates Pearl will bring a new level of luxury to Abu Dhabi.  Abu Dhabi is undergoing a transformation into one of the region’s top business and leisure destinations.  Regent Hotels & Resorts is pleased to bring a premier luxury hotel to this growing market.”

The development of The Regent Emirates Pearl is the result of a partnership between Regent Hotels & Resorts, the Atlas Group (UAE), and a joint venture project with the Tourism Development & Investment Company, the company charged with leveraging the tourism assets of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
