IHG to open Colorado hotel

A four-story 500-room Crowne Plaza hotel in Colorado Springs will open within the month.  The conversion property is the largest branded hotel in the Colorado Springs market.

“This market has a number of growing demand generators, including multiple military installations, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Olympic Training Center,” said Kevin Kowalski, senior vice president, Worldwide Brand Management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. “We feel the time is right to bring a meetings-focused upscale asset like Crowne Plaza to Colorado Springs.”

The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to Interstate 25, near businesses including Intel Corp., Boeing, Atmel Corporation and TechWise.  Fort Carson and Peterson Air Force Base are both just a short drive from the hotel.  Local leisure attractions include Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center, Seven Falls and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

The Crowne Plaza Colorado Springs is owned by Stamford Real Estate Investments Ltd. and Harrell Hospitality Group and managed by Harrell Hospitality Group, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

The Crowne Plaza Colorado Springs will feature the Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage program, which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the Americas.  Sleep Advantage encompasses the entire sleep experience, from training staff on how to create and maintain a restful environment to providing innovative products and services. High-speed wired and wireless Internet access is available in the hotel’s guestrooms and public spaces.

The property is located at 2886 South Circle Dr., Colorado Springs, Co. The hotel was formerly a Sheraton.
