Over 69 million tourists visit Paris

Over 69 million tourists visited Paris last year, the City Office of Tourism told media sources. The office explained ‘the remarkable achievement” with the opening of many repaired places of interest and temporary exhibitions.

A number of Paris top attractions beat the previous popularity records. For instance, the Louvre Museum, which ranks thirds on the city sightseeing list, enlarged the number of visitors by 10.5% to 8.3 million.

The Eiffel Tower was visited by 6.7 million people - the fourth place in the city hit parade.

Musee D’Orsay, which exists for over 20 years and presents the 19th-20th century art, was visited by 3 million people for the first time ever. The museum, which occupies the giant building of the former Paris railroad terminal, ranks the seventh.

The number of people visiting Notre Dame de Paris grew from 13 million to 13.5 million, while Sacre Coeur basilica in Montmartre attracted 10.5 million visitors, the office said.
