Press: Lufthansa, TAP look to bid for Spanair

Lufthansa and state-owned airline TAP Portugal are studying a rival bid for SAS AB’s Spanish air carrier Spanair, Negocio reported, citing unnamed sector sources.
Lufthansa and TAP have requested financial information from the airline to study an offer, it noted.

Last month, tour operator Marsans announced a bid for Spanair, which both SAS and Gonzalo Pascual—Spanair chairman and owner of Marsans—said they hoped to close within four months.

However, Pascual has said that if Marsans is not successful in buying Spanair, it could consider making a bid for Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA.
