United reveals two key appointments

UAL Corporation, the holding company for United Airlines,
has announced that Kathryn Mikells has been named vice president—
Investor Relations, and Robert Sahadevan has been named managing director
—Mileage Plus.In her new role, Mikells will leverage her financial experience with
the company to continue to build the investor relations function,
representing United to the business and financial analyst community, and
working closely with investors.
  Mikells joined United in 1994, and successfully held several vice
president and other leadership positions in finance and corporate real
estate. Most recently, she served as vice president-Financial Planning and
Analysis, where she was responsible for business development and overseeing
the company’s operating and capital budgets. Prior to that, she was vice
president and treasurer for United, where she oversaw corporate finance,
risk management, cash management, insurance and corporate tax. She also
played a pivotal role in United’s restructuring, managing aircraft
negotiations and financing issues. She also previously served as the chief
financial officer of Mileage Plus.
  “Kathryn brings significant financial experience—from corporate
financial planning and analysis to her work during our restructuring and
her CFO experience with Mileage Plus—which will serve her well in this
important position as she continues to build United’s relationship with our
investors,” said Glenn Tilton, United president, chairman and CEO.
  In her new role, Mikells will report jointly to Jake Brace, executive
vice president and chief financial officer, and Rosemary Moore, senior vice
president—Corporate and Government Affairs.
  A replacement for Mikells was not immediately named.
  The company also named Robert Sahadevan to lead Mileage Plus, the unit
which is responsible for the company’s frequent flyer program and
associated marketing. In this new role, Sahadevan will have overall profit
and loss responsibility for the organization, which is an $800 million
business, with 45 million enrolled members. Sahadevan most recently served
as managing director-Investor Relations, where he was responsible for
managing United’s relationships with financial analysts and investors, and
recreating the investor relations function as the company exited
restructuring and re-listed its equity.
  Sahadevan, who joined United in 1997, previously served as senior vice
president of Mileage Plus(R) for UAL Loyalty Services, a wholly owned
subsidiary of UAL Corporation. There, he led the team responsible for
member direct marketing, member communications, program partner acquisition
and development.
  “Robert established investor relations at United post-restructuring,
and has built strong relationships with our analysts and investors. He also
brings significant financial and marketing expertise to the new role,” said
Tilton. “We look forward to his stewardship of the organization, working
with our customers and our partners to continue to deliver the industry’s
best loyalty program.”
  Sahadevan will report to Dennis Cary, senior vice president—
Marketing.
  “We are pleased to be appointing such high-potential leaders to these
critical positions,” Tilton said. “As multiple opportunities for value
creation evolve across the company, having Kathryn and Robert in these key
roles will benefit our customers and our shareholders.”
