Continental tops up pension pot

Continental Airlines has contributed an additional US$75 million in cash to its defined benefit pension plans, bringing its total year-to-date contribution to US$211 million. This contribution exceeds the minimum funding requirement applicable to Continental’s plans.

“Our employee pension plans continue to have a high priority,” said Chairman and CEO Larry Kellner. “We are working hard to fulfill our pension obligations to our employees.”

Continental currently expects to contribute US$328 million to its pension plans in 2007, significantly exceeding its minimum funding requirement of US$187 million for the year.
