Expedia expands Hertz deal

13th Jul 2007

Expedia has expanded its strategic partnership with The Hertz Corporation with a multi-year agreement to offer Hertz rentals across Expedia-branded points of sale in Europe. This partnership comes on the heels of Hertz’s decision to renew its participation in Expedia’s Preferred Rental Car Program on Expedia.com and Expedia.ca.

Through this expanded agreement across continents, Hertz can continue to build a global customer base by enhancing its online presence and reaching more than 36 million unique visitors per month across Expedia sites in North America and Europe.

For the first time, Expedia will this year be able to offer its customers in Europe the complete range of Hertz cars through its European sites in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Michel Taride, president of Hertz Europe, commented: “We are delighted to build on our three year partnership with Expedia in Europe through this new multi-year agreement, and to be Expedia’s preferred car rental partner. Expedia is a world leader in online intermediary travel, so this an important association for Hertz, the world’s largest general use car rental brand.”

“Expedia is focused on building a global travel marketplace for our partners and our customers,” said Matthew Crummack, vice president, EMEA transport & tour operations, of Expedia, Inc. Partner Services Group. “We deliver unparalleled local market expertise combined with global reach to help our partners achieve their business goals and grow their business worldwide. It is with great pleasure that Expedia can now offer our European customers such a wide choice of high quality vehicles, backed by first rate service, from this world-class brand.”
