Kimpton plans 2 New York hotels

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will double its presence in New York with two newly developed boutique/lifestyle hotels in Manhattan, which are scheduled to open in 2008 and 2009. This expansion in New York is part of a strategic objective to become a dominant player in the Manhattan boutique-hotel scene, which started for Kimpton with the opening of the 70 Park Avenue Hotel, followed by its Muse Hotel.

“Kimpton is rapidly expanding its foothold coast to coast, and expansion in New York City is an important driver in reaching our overall goal of doubling the number of hotels in our portfolio by 2012,” said Michael Depatie, Kimpton CEO and president. “There is incredible demand in New York for Kimpton’s brand of stylish, luxury, boutique hotels that allow travelers to be as comfortable on the road as they are at home.”
