Austrian Airlines will once again offer daily flights to the booming city of Shanghai via Beijing, working in cooperation with future Star Alliance partner Air ChinaDaily codeshare flights via Beijing will also begin operating to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou and to Wuhan in Central China. As a result of the changes, Austrian will offer 42 new weekly flights between Austria and China from July onwards, in addition to its existing daily services to Beijing.
The Chinese boomtown Shanghai is particularly easy to reach via Beijing. Guangzhou - better known by its former English-language name of Canton - is the centre of the richest region in China, the Pearl River Delta. It was in this region that China’s expert boom of the past two decades first began to gather momentum. Wuhan is situated along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is the seat of numerous industrial concerns and an important Chinese conference location.
This cooperation will enable the Austrian Airlines Group to expand its global network and offer the best possible connections out into China via Beijing together with Air China.
