Six Senses opens spa at Sharq Village

Six Senses Spas has just opened a unique experience in Qatar at the Sharq Village & Spa. A 6,500sqm spa has been created as a centerpiece of the 174-guestroom and suite waterfront property.

The design of the spa reflects a traditional Qatari village which appears to have grown organically over time. Similar to a souk with winding alleyways rather than corridors, the 23 treatment rooms are within 4 typical village houses.

Facilities include saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, plunge pools, changing rooms, world-class fitness clubs with dedicated areas for yoga, meditation, tai chi and other eastern practices, as well as relaxation rooms and prayer rooms. Ladies are also offered a private entrance and reception, including a professional hair and beauty salon.

The Six Senses Spa offers lifestyle and wellness consultations and programmes to suit guest’s individual requirements with specialist resident therapists and personal trainers. It also offers a comprehensive list of signature therapies such as Swedish, Thai and Balinese pampering massages, as well as more specialized treatments including crystal therapy, mud baths, body scrubs and polishes, typical private hammam experiences, and lessons in eastern meditation and exercise traditions.

Be it traditional or more alternative treatments, the Six Senses Spa differentiates itself by ensuring all practitioners and therapists are highly trained professionals in their chosen discipline, and that every treatment and fitness session has a positive impact on the guest’s wellbeing.

The design of Sharq Resort & Spa, managed by the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, is unique to the Middle East for its authentic recreation of life in an ancient Bedouin desert village. There are 14 individual courtyard houses or ‘beits’ along 1,000m of private coastline stretching from the ancient Arabic bazaar. The 174 room village blends traditional architecture and design with modern comforts and amenities creating a truly luxurious experience.
