Lufthansa reveals Florida addition

This winter Lufthansa is launching a new service to Orlando, offering its passengers the opportunity to fly to a
second destination - after Miami - in Florida. The
inclusion of Orlando marks the latest stage in the ongoing expansion of
the airline’s flight schedule to USA and Canada in recent years. With
the introduction of the winter timetable, Lufthansa will offer a total
of 208 flights a week to 20 destinations and will therefore operate one
of the most extensive route networks over the North Atlantic. “Orlando
is not only one of the most popular destinations for holidaymakers but
also one of the key economic growth regions in the US,” says Dr
Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Head of Hub Management Frankfurt, Lufthansa
Passenger Airlines. “Lufthansa will offer three travel classes on the
new non-stop flight to Orlando, making it the only airline to provide a
First Class service on this route.”

The city of Orlando, in Central Florida, has a population of about a
million and is located in an important, fast-growing catchment area.
More than 50 per cent of all the residents of Florida (about eight
million people) live within a radius of 200 kilometres of the city. Each
year, over 50 million tourists visit the region with its many famous
theme parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World). Tourists
from Germany form one of the largest groups of visitors to Orlando. The
town is also one of the most dynamic economic regions in the US. The
entertainment industry and the film industry are firmly established
here. Many companies in the IT, health care and biotechnology sectors as
well as in classic industrial sectors such as the automobile and
aviation industry are based in Orlando. Furthermore, the city is home to
America’s second-largest congress centre.

The new Lufthansa service with the flight numbers LH 464/465 will be
introduced on 30 October 2007 and operated five times a week all year
round, with flights departing from Frankfurt at 14.05 hrs and Orlando at
20.25 hrs.

From 2 July 2007, a return flight from Frankfurt to Orlando in Economy
Class can be booked for as little as 469 euros, subject to availability.
